Yardah Domingo - Show Results

Yardah Domingo has consistently achieved pleasing results across a range of event types, proving to be a truly versatile mount. Domingo is not ridden or handled by a professional rider, instead he is campaigned by myself, owner of SC Spanish Horses , Domingo has safely carried me through my first Novice & Elementary Dressage test and Showjumping classes highlighting his fantastic reliable nature.

2022 Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club Fire & Ice Fundraiser

Another spectacular event run by the WAECI committee and volunteers, this event is always a highlight of the competition season for me and this year was no different. The supportive comradeship between competitions is so refreshing and makes the day just that much more special.

We were very lucky, in addition to coming away with a top 4 placing in each class, to be awarded Reserve Champion Horse. We additionally produced our best showjumping round to date! It has taken a bit of practice for me to develop a feel for striding and become a helpful partner to Domingo as opposed to a passenger or even at times a hindrance. That practice fell into place and we achieved out most harmonious jumping round to date! Coming away with a 3rd place in the 60cm class.

2022 Swan River Dressage Spring Gala

Competing in the Elementary 3B and 3C under two interstate judges saw us come away with a 3rd placing in both tests against a competitive field of large, experienced Warmbloods. We were very pleased to receive very positive feedback from both judges particularly in relation to our canter work.

2022 ARCA Spring Challenge

Had an absolutely fantastic day representing the Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club. Domingo and I tackled our second ever Elementary test (the 3B) and despite the trials and tribulations of the surface being rock hard grass with more pot holes than a country road and me starting our test by confusing my arena markers and thinking I was late to a movement only to realise I hadn’t even reached the marker yet. Domingo absolutely tried his heart out and nailed his canter work with every canter movement scoring a 7 or higher! We even achieved 7.5’s for two of our simple changes and our counter canter. We finished with a very solid 65.875% placing 7th out of 14 competitors and I could not be happier for only our second attempt!

I then had the wonderful opportunity to complete a Pas De Deux with a very close friend and her quirky and very cute pony Toby. We had such a blast riding together to the soundtrack from Harry Potter and the boys truly put their best hoof forward!

We finished off the day with our first ever Freestyle also at Elementary level. I will admit I probably had more fun than a mature adult should have dressing up as Captain America! Domingo really pulled out all the stops to carry me home on a high. Unfortunately the judge somehow confused my second shoulder in as being on the left rein (it was on the right) so both were marked as on the left rein and our right shoulder in was marked as ‘not shown’ and with this being a coefficient movement it cost us dearly. Dropping us from what would have been a 3rd place to 5th. But despite that small hiccup we got fantastic feedback across the test with multiple 7’s including for Harmony which was lovely. And as a lovely surprise we were awarded best costume for the International Arena for the day.

2022 WASJA June Show

My first ever showjumping competition, the road here has been a very intense 6 months of battling my confidence and pushing myself to grown and face my fears. I am very glad to say I have done it and I truly owe ever moment and triumph to this amazing one in a million boy, Yardah Domingo.

The day itself was a bit of a mixed bag with my nerves returning in full force, making me a terrible pilot. But as always he took such incredible care of me, never touching a single rail in both the 60cm and 75cm classes. Though I do think he’s trying to tell me to stop wasting his time with these baby heights!

While we didn’t place, spending to much time airborne to put in a competitive time, everything I wanted to achieve for the day I did and at this point in my jumping journey that is worth more than a ribbon. And what is worth most is the sheer joy Domingo gets from flying around a jump course, I would put myself though the anxiety time and time again to feel him sore under me with such complete enthusiasm and excitement!

2022 Magenup Adult Riding Group Dressage and Jumping Series

We attended the Magenup Adult Riding Group Dressage and Jumping Series 3rd event, representing Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club. The weather, despite the deceptive pictures, was not kind and we just about got blow out of the arena.

But despite the challenges we flew through our first Elementary Dressage test, and incidentally our 30th dressage test as a combination, achieving a 71.7% placing us 3rd out of 3 absolutely stunning combinations but not far behind (0.2% off second and just over 1% off 1st). We jumped straight in the deep end to the Elementary 3C so to walk away with such a competitive score on our first attempt, in very trying conditions, was fantastic. We then had a blast popping over a 60cm training round in the showjumping with the second fasted jump off time.

2022 Swan River Dressage Series 1st Event

Absolutely fantastic day yesterday at Brookleigh Dressage Club for their Sunrise Series. It felt a bit like we swam our warm up as opposed to rode it, in fetlock deep water, but the day ran beautifully despite the trying conditions.

Domingo absolutely blew me away performing what felt like our best test yet in the 2B followed closely by a lovely test in the 2C to win both in some pretty lovely open company!

2022 ARCA Autumn Challenge - Hickstead

1st Place - WTC -Poles to 30cm, achieving a score of 86% in our Novice 2B test! Being awarded 9's for the majority of our canter work and our lateral work at the trot including some fantastic comments on the flow and accuracy of our test was a huge highlight of the day. Followed closely by the sheer joy Domingo got from taking on the combined showjumping and cross country phase.

The atmosphere was fantastic, the company even more so with the day topped off by being a part of the highest scoring handicap club! Go Wanneroo!

2022 Swan River Dressage Series 1st Event

First event for the 2022 season and we achieved a personal best in our Novice 2B with 15 of our 25 possible marks scoring a 7 or above and no mark under a 6 with our final percentage being 66.6%. Unfortunately a costly course error brought our overall score down, however I couldn’t be happier with lovely comments from the judge throughout the test with the final comment being ‘Quality Horse showing sound training’.

2021 Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club Fire & Ice Fundraiser

To finish off the 2021 season we spent an incredibly enjoyable Sunday at the Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club Fire and Ice event.
We had a great deal of fun dressing up as Captain America to support the costume theme of red, white and blue and although we didn't win best costume I think it definitely tops out as my favorite ever costume! We had a very successful day with a top three placing in every class entered in the hack events, finishing up with Reserve Champion Rider and Reserve Champion Hack Horse.

We finished the day with our first ever Showjumping rounds, Poles to 30cm and 45cm. Now although these heights seem inconsequential those who know me are aware of my anxiety and fear when it comes to jumping, so this was a huge leap for me and one I am very glad we took! Domingo and I had an absolute blast and as always he took exceptional care of me in everyway. We even walked away with a 3rd and a 5th place respectively in large competitive classes!

2021 Swan River Dressage Spring Gala

This event was a bit of a mixed bag with the lead up spent helping to organize the show as opposed in the saddle and then followed up by running late to our test, it is safe to say the riders mind was not quite on the job. But our Mr Reliable more than made up for the riders lack of focus proving yet again to be worth his weight in gold. He came away with 3rd place in a competitive class of 7 lovely horse and rider combinations in the Novice 2B test.

WA State Dressage Championships 2021

What a sensational two days at the WA State Dressage Championships 2021!

This was the first ever State Championship event for both myself and Domingo and it is safe to say we had an absolutely amazing time! I believe we were the only Purebred Andalusian on the grounds over the weekend and it was a little daunting going up against some pretty fancy warmbloods but we gave it our all and came away with some great results!

In the Novice 2B we achieved a 66%, consistently being awarded 6.5’s and 7’s throughout. For the Novice 2C, the first time we have attempted this test, we achieved 62.2%, with one judge awarding us 64.6% and our first ever mark of 8 for a movement in a Novice test! For both tests the highest mark received was 68% so we put in some competitive scores. As always we were so proud of our beautiful boy Domingo who was just a star over the two days, it was so lovely to hear comments from people on the grounds as to how well behaved he is!

2021 Greenhills Endurance Ride

Emboldened by our success at Bakers Hill two weeks before we took to the trail again stepping up to the 20km, we made fantastic time trotting and cantering through some absolutely stunning countryside. Our vet card at the completion of our ride was once again exemplary proving you shouldn't count the old boys out, Domingo certainly still has so much to give! We also received a huge complement from one of the attending vets stating if I was standing this boy to the public she would breed her personal mares to him in a heartbeat! Can't get better than that from a specialized Reproduction Veterinarian! - To Compete is the Win

2021 Bakers Hill Endurance Ride

Versatility isn't just a tag line, we truly believe that our horses should be well rounded, adaptable individuals happy to turn a hoof at anything their riders could desire!

At 21 Domingo attempted his first ever endurance ride, the introductory 10km at Bakers Hill. Some incredibly variable conditions going through mud, marsh, and across hilly terrain. He handled it all with ease, finishing up with a picture perfect vetting and great comments from the vet staff. A very enjoyable experience getting to stretch our legs and go for a canter in the big open spaces, and what a view! - To Compete is the Win

2021 Perth Horse & Pony Club Matchy Matchy Hack Day

On the 6th of June we attended a fantastic fun filled hack day at the Perth Horse and Pony Club celebrating one of our favorite things, Matchy Matchy! Domingo as usual did us proud spending the morning falling asleep in between classes and his time in the ring impressing the judge with four top three placings in four competitive classes and achieving a Reserve Champion title.

We received some lovely comments from both the judge and fellow competitors on Domingo's sensational temperament and beautiful way of going. The judge commenting 'he looks like an absolute pleasure to ride', and that he is!

2021 Swan River Dressage Series Event 2

Yardah Domingo undertook his 3rd start at the Novice level under some very tough judging which saw next to no scores exceed the 65% mark. Domingo came in with not much preparation in the lead up to the day and blew us away! Quite possibly the best test we have performed he was soft, focused and performed some lovely movements for a 66% placing us 2nd in a class of eight, a substantial 4% above the 3rd place getter.

Once again our beautiful boy received multiple comments about his amazing temperament and lots of comments from lookers on about his lovely calm and harmonious dressage test.

2020 AHAA WA State Show

Yardah Domingo attended the 2020 AHAA WA State Show on the 8th of November, being only a few months shy of his 22nd birthday and one of the eldest horses in attendance! The morning led events saw him achieve Senior Champion Pure Spanish Andalusian Entrie, his yearling son achieving the title of State Champion! and 2nd in the Spanish Movement class.

In the afternoon ridden events Domingo was awarded Champion Ridden Pure Spanish Entire and then went on to claim the title of State Champion Ridden Pure Spanish Andalusian! The judge commented on his fantastic push from behind and lovely consistent rhythm, something he passes onto his offspring.

He then finished the day with a personal best result in the Dressage with 67.8% in the Novice 2A, placing 3rd, our second test at Novice level, and very pleasing feedback.

2020 Swan River Dressage Spring Gala

The Swan River Dressage Spring Gala marked my first competitive attempt at the Novice level. Domingo rose to the occasion. A miscalculation of timing saw us arrive with only 6 minutes to warm up before the test and despite this we completed the test with a lovely score of 66.4% and very encouraging comments from the judge. This placed us 6th out of a highly competitive group of 10 riders all with very close scoring.

Domingo received multiple comments throughout the day on his beautiful calm nature particularly in response to the rushed warm up which left us no time to settle into the new environment, not that you would have guessed it!

2019 WAAHA Dressage Competition

This event marked Domingo's first Dressage event post surgery for an eye ulceration which saw him out of work for 6 months. Competing in the Preliminary 1A he achieved a fantastic score of 70% with two scores of 8! Placing us 2nd in a large group of 14 combinations.

2019 Wanneroo Adult Equestrian Club Fire & Ice Fundraiser

Domingo not only won a multitude of hack classes on the day but was also awarded Champion Horse against 10+ strong competitors. His placings however are only the tip of the iceberg the best part of the day was watching him spend the day being loved on by children all running up wanting to 'cuddle the pretty pony!'. He adored every minute of it.
